Police to provide security for Ablekuma North recollation

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed its commitment to security. This is for the completion of the 2024 Ablekuma North parliamentary election results. The Electoral Commission (EC) may resume the collation process soon.

Ablekuma North is currently without a Member of Parliament. This follows disputes over the outcome of the 2024 elections. Months after the national polls, the EC has not finalized the results. As a result, the constituency lacks parliamentary representation.

On Tuesday, May 6, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor spoke at a press conference. She is the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). She assured that the Police Service is ready to support when needed.

“If the EC is ready, we are always ready,” she said. “We will take it up with the Inspector General of Police.” She emphasized that they are prepared to provide security for any exercise. This includes support for both the EC and other institutions.
