President John Dramani Mahama honored the late Pope Francis. He called him a “good man” with a “good soul.” Mahama shared this message on April 25 in a condolence book. The book was opened at the Apostolic Nunciature in Accra.
Pope Francis passed away on April 21, as announced by the Vatican. He was known for his humility and advocacy for peace. He also promoted social justice and interfaith unity. The Pope died at the age of 88. His burial is set for April 26 at the Vatican.
A solemn mass was held in memory of Pope Francis. A government delegation attended, led by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. Religious leaders from various Christian denominations were also present. A representative of the National Chief Imam joined them at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra on April 25.
