A petition addressed to President John Dramani Mahama has demanded the removal of the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, along with her deputies, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare and Mr. Samuel Tettey, and a commissioner, Dr. Peter Appiahene.
The petition cites serious allegations of bias, incompetence, and breaches of constitutional duties.
The petition highlights the exclusion of voters from Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) during the 2020 parliamentary elections, a move deemed to have infringed on their right to vote.
Furthermore, the petition criticizes the EC's handling of the 2020 general elections, pointing to repeated corrections of the results, which led to widespread confusion and legal challenges.
"This administrative failure strained public trust in the Commission and questioned its capacity to ensure free and fair elections," the petition asserts.
