Assin South MP John Ntim Fordjour has strongly criticized the government’s spending priorities following the Adum market fire, questioning the allocation of GHS 2.7 billion to Government Machinery, including GHS 78.8 million for the Presidency’s Communications Department.
He argued that such funds could have been redirected to equip the Ghana National Fire Service with modern firefighting resources.
Fordjour also linked the fire incident to ongoing power outages, suggesting that poor infrastructure planning exacerbated the crisis.
His remarks highlight concerns over budget allocation and the need for greater investment in public safety.
The MP urged the government to focus on essential services rather than what he described as wasteful expenditures.
