President John Mahama has assured Ghanaians that his administration has successfully averted a potential power crisis.
Speaking at the swearing-in of six new ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, he highlighted measures taken to secure energy supplies amidst scheduled maintenance of the West African Gas Pipeline.
Mahama attributed the looming crisis to the previous government’s failure to ensure adequate fuel for thermal plants.
He noted that the gas pipeline’s maintenance, which powers thermal plants in the eastern enclave, posed a severe risk to the nation’s energy stability.
However, his administration had taken decisive action, including delivering fuel ahead of the shutdown, to prevent outages.
The President praised new Energy Minister John Jinapor for his swift response to the challenge.
