Former Public Procurement Authority Board Chairman, Prof Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has been released after being held by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in connection with a financial investigation.
His legal counsel, Ken Kuranchie, confirmed the development, stating that Prof Ameyaw-Akumfi was approached at his residence on Sunday morning by officials in three pickups, who informed him of the need to report to the NIB.
He voluntarily complied and was taken to the agency’s offices in Kawukudi, Accra.
The inquiry reportedly centers on financial approvals made during his tenure as Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
While the specifics remain undisclosed, his release suggests that investigations are ongoing.
