Radio Univers’ Dr. Sidick Ahmed bows out; grand send-off slated for June 6

A group of former volunteers from Radio Univers will honor Dr. Abubakari Sidick Ahmed. He is the long-serving manager of the University of Ghana’s radio station. The retirement celebration will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025.

The event is themed “The Touchdown.” It will take place at the Great Hall of the University of Ghana at 6:00 PM. Attendance is by invitation only.

Dignitaries, mentees, colleagues, friends, and family will attend. They all share a common goal: to celebrate Dr. Ahmed's impactful leadership and mentorship in Ghana’s media space.

Dr. Sidick Ahmed, affectionately known as Alhaji, has worked at Radio Univers for over two decades. He started as a student reporter and rose to Station Manager. Throughout his career, he nurtured talent and built confidence among young broadcasters.

Albert Quashigah, Esq., Chairperson of the Central Planning Committee, spoke about the event's significance. He said it is important to recognize those who influence their communities like Alhaji has done.

Quashigah emphasized that they should honor him while they still can. "We either do it now or we lose the opportunity," he stated. Under Dr. Ahmed's guidance, many learned and grew in confidence.

He expressed gratitude for being part of this planning effort as Chairperson. Quashigah believes this recognition will inspire others to excel in their own fields.

As this era comes to an end, The Touchdown aims to celebrate a legacy. It honors a mentor and visionary whose impact extends beyond Radio Univers' walls.
