Release parts of Mike Ocquaye Report to aid NPP reforms – Dr. Forkuo

Dr. Solomon Forkuo, a political analyst at Kumasi Technical University, has made a request. He wants the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to release parts of the report from the Prof. Mike Ocquaye-led committee. This report addresses the party's loss in the 2024 elections.

His appeal comes as pressure grows on the NPP to address internal issues that led to its defeat. The committee was formed after the election loss and led by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye. Its goal was to investigate why the party performed poorly and suggest ways to improve for future elections.

The report is believed to be thorough, but little information has been shared publicly. This lack of transparency has led to speculation and calls for more openness from the party.

Dr. Forkuo argues that keeping the entire report secret limits the party's ability to learn from its mistakes. He suggests dividing the findings into two categories: classified and unclassified. This way, key insights can be shared with grassroots members without revealing sensitive information.

He emphasizes that the party’s problems go beyond just delegate issues. Real solutions require addressing deeper structural and behavioral weaknesses highlighted in the report.

“Some issues need discussion; there’s no shame in it,” he said. He urges open dialogue as a way for genuine reform within the party.

For Dr. Forkuo, not addressing these issues risks stagnation at a crucial time for the NPP. The party needs to regain trust and prepare for upcoming elections in 2028.

Publishing parts of the report could restore confidence among members, he believes. It would also encourage honest self-examination—an essential step for any party seeking redemption.
