Residents of Jamestown benefit from ASA Savings and Loans medical screening exercise

ASA Savings and Loans recently organized free eye and medical screenings in Jamestown. This initiative is part of their corporate social responsibility efforts.

The screenings primarily benefited elderly residents. They were checked for eye problems, hepatitis B, malaria, blood pressure, and sugar levels. Treated mosquito nets were given to those who tested positive for malaria.

Abdul Rahman Akugri from Modern Care Hospital led the team. He educated attendees on healthy eating habits and personal hygiene practices.

Free medication was provided to those diagnosed with health issues. The medical team reported that 159 adults were screened, along with some children.

Mr. Pope Neequaye, ASA's Area Manager, emphasized the importance of this initiative. He assured residents that similar exercises will occur regularly to improve their health.

Kailebi Nii Tsui Alabi, branch manager at ASA’s Osu center, explained the support's rationale. Many residents are elderly and face mobility issues or financial constraints for healthcare access.

She encouraged beneficiaries to adhere to their medications and maintain healthy lifestyles.

Beneficiary Rose Norkor Nettey expressed her satisfaction with the event. She suggested making it an annual occurrence for those unable to afford healthcare services.

Another beneficiary, Naa Lankai Addy, appreciated the orderly process of the screening. She had been experiencing sight issues and neck pain but felt reassured after receiving advice from health professionals.

She plans to follow the prescribed treatment to stay healthy for her family.
