Hamza Suhuyini, a member of the NDC communication team, has raised concerns. He is worried about the NPP’s internal discipline. This follows Dr. Bryan Acheampong's formation of a presidential exploratory committee.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, Suhuyini emphasized party interests over personal ambitions. He said, “I would’ve loved to be silent on this matter.” However, he feels that political parties are public entities.
Suhuyini noted that as a Ghanaian citizen, he is a stakeholder in NPP politics. He cautioned that Dr. Acheampong's actions seem to defy the party’s internal directives after their recent election defeat.
He recalled that Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP Communications Director, mentioned rebuilding steps. Ahiagbah stated that individual ambitions should cease for now. Suhuyini finds it troubling that leading members of the NPP ignore this directive.
He suggested this lack of discipline reflects a disregard for national laws. “It speaks volumes of their unwillingness to obey rules and regulations,” he said. He questioned how they can respect constitutional processes if they don’t follow their own rules.
Suhuyini also linked this attitude to poor governance under the previous NPP administration. He asked if people are surprised by what happened during Nana Akufo-Addo’s presidency.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bryan Acheampong announced his exploratory committee will engage grassroots members and stakeholders. He aims to align his vision with the party's aspirations.
Dr. Acheampong stated that the NPP is at a pivotal juncture needing unity and commitment to core values. The committee will submit its findings within four weeks.
He stressed his lifelong commitment to the NPP shapes his interest in leadership roles. “These roles have granted me invaluable insights into our Party’s foundations,” he said.
