Businessman Richard Jakpa has been officially named Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, with sources confirming his appointment took effect on January 31, 2025.

This clarification resolves debates about his role in last week’s raid on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s residence.

While reports suggested forced entry, evidence indicates Jakpa’s team, comprising military and police personnel, had a warrant and were granted access by the security guard.

In his new role, Jakpa will oversee covert and overt security operations, crisis response, and counter-terrorism initiatives, ensuring the preparedness of special forces and rapid response teams.

His responsibilities extend to addressing national security threats and executing directives from top security officials.
