Kofi Bentil, Vice President of IMANI Africa, is disappointed. He reacted to the court's decision to delay a ruling on security service appointments.
Bentil noted that the court had already completed the case. Only the ruling was pending.
He acknowledged the suspension of the chief justice is serious. However, he believes there is no reason for further delays.
In a Facebook post, he expressed his frustration. "Today, May 7, was supposed to be judgment day," he wrote. The case involved ImaniAfrica and Prof. Aning against the Attorney General.
They sought a declaration that the President cannot dismiss security chiefs. They attended court expecting a judgment but learned it was postponed indefinitely.
Bentil stated they are disappointed because they expected a ruling by now. They concluded this case months ago and anticipated timely judgment.
He understands that the chief justice's suspension may impact proceedings. Still, he feels this crucial case deserves prompt attention.
"We will wait for the court to call us back," Bentil said. He remains hopeful for a resolution soon.
