The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) will start disbursing funds in June. This is for first-year tertiary students under the “No Fee Stress” policy.
Dr. Saajida Shiraz, CEO of the Trust Fund, urged students to register online. They should complete all necessary steps for fund disbursement.
At a recent event at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Shiraz explained the initiative. She stated that “No Fee Stress” is not a loan but financial support. It aims to reduce the financial burden on students.
She clarified that this policy does not require repayment like traditional loans. Her comments addressed misconceptions about the initiative functioning as a loan.
The KNUST event is part of a nationwide campaign by SLTF. The team will visit various institutions to educate students and assist with registration.
Dr. Shiraz reaffirmed the Trust Fund's commitment to making education accessible for all Ghanaian students.
Other speakers included Dr. Emmanuel Newman from the Ministry of Education and Prof. Marian Asantewah Nkansah from KNUST. Both officials expressed hope that this policy will increase enrollment in tertiary education.
They encouraged students to take advantage of this initiative and consider applying for student loans after their first year.
