Sam George demands retraction of Lexus gift allegation by NPP activist

Communication Minister Sam George is unhappy about recent speculations.

A social media user, P.K. Sarpong, suggested he received a Lexus as a gift. This claim violates President John Mahama’s new Code of Conduct.

The Code discourages government appointees from accepting gifts. The President warned that gifts could compromise their integrity.

At a public funds policy launch, Mahama emphasized the need to declare gifts over GH₵20,000.

Sarpong claimed Mr. Sam George was using an "unregistered vehicle." He described it as a "top of the range Lexus" gifted to him.

In his post, Sarpong addressed President Mahama directly. He insisted that the unregistered Lexus was indeed a gift.

He chose not to reveal the identity of the gifter for now.

Sam George called Sarpong's claims false and defamatory. Through his lawyers, he demanded that Sarpong stop making such statements.

George requested an apology or threatened legal action against Sarpong.

His lawyers issued a formal statement regarding this matter. They stated that Sarpong's claims were categorically false and damaging to George's reputation.

They demanded that Sarpong remove the false publication from Facebook within seven days.

Additionally, they asked for a public retraction and an unqualified apology to George.

Failure to comply will lead to legal proceedings against Sarpong for defamation.
