Sammy Gyamfi Summoned By Chief Of Staff Over Dollar Gift To Nana Agradaa

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned Sammy Gyamfi. He is the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board. This follows a viral video showing him giving cash to Nana Agradaa. The cash amount is undisclosed but reportedly in US dollars.

Sources at the Jubilee House confirmed this to Metrotvonline. Gyamfi must explain the transaction's circumstances. It has sparked public backlash and raised ethical concerns about public officials.

The video shows Gyamfi handing money to Nana Agradaa, whose real name is Patricia Oduro Koranteng. The reason for this gift is unclear. However, many people are uncomfortable with a government official giving money to a controversial figure.

Critics say this gesture undermines President John Dramani Mahama’s new Code of Conduct for Public Officials. This code emphasizes integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service.

On May 11, Gyamfi apologized publicly. He said the act was a personal gesture meant to be private. He expressed regret over how it was perceived and reaffirmed his commitment to ethical service.

Despite his apology, the Chief of Staff is treating this matter urgently. It poses political sensitivity and reputational risks for both the Ghana Gold Board and the government. Internal consultations are ongoing, and further statements may follow after Gyamfi's appearance.
