Francis-Xavier Sosu, the MP for Madina, is defending Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod). He faced backlash for a dollar donation to Nana Agradaa. Nana Agradaa is an evangelist and former fetish priestess.
A viral video shows Gyamfi giving dollar notes to Agradaa at an event. This footage sparked public criticism. Many questioned the appropriateness of such actions by public officials. They expressed concern about the country's economic difficulties.
In response, Gyamfi apologized publicly. He clarified that his donation was a personal act of kindness. He did not intend to attract public attention with it. Despite this, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has summoned him for an explanation.
Amidst the controversy, MP Francis-Xavier Sosu supported Gyamfi on Facebook. He stated that Gyamfi had done nothing wrong. “It is well,” he wrote. “You committed no crime.” Sosu encouraged Gyamfi to stay focused and blessed despite criticism.
Agradaa also defended Gyamfi, stating that $800 is not significant.
