A law lecturer at GIMPA, Lawyer Kwaku Anane-Gyinde, has made serious accusations. He claims Acting Ghana Goldbod CEO Sammy Gyamfi violated Ghana’s Foreign Exchange Act. This accusation follows a video where Mr. Gyamfi gifts US dollars to Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, known as Agradaa.
Lawyer Anane-Gyinde argues that this act breaks the Foreign Exchange Act of 2006 (Act 723). The law prohibits using foreign currency in local transactions and public displays. He stated, “This is not just a lapse in judgment; it is a direct breach of the law.”
He emphasized that actions from someone in public office have significant implications. He called for President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss Mr. Gyamfi. Retaining him could harm the presidency's credibility and overshadow its achievements.
“Sammy Gyamfi’s continued stay in office could haunt the president,” he said. It could also provide ammunition to political opponents and be seen as a betrayal of trust.
Lawyer Anane-Gyinde advised political leaders to prioritize national interest over party loyalty. He warned, “Our country can survive without political parties, but not without respect for law and order.”
