Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe is the Acting CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). He has called for an end to the controversy over Sammy Gyamfi’s dollar gift to Nana Agradaa. This incident drew criticism after Gyamfi publicly apologized.
Tamakloe noted that Gyamfi, who is also the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, took full responsibility. He urged Ghanaians to accept Gyamfi's apology and move on.
Gyamfi faced backlash after a video showed him giving dollar notes to Nana Agradaa at an event. Many were concerned about this display of wealth amid economic challenges in the country. In response, Gyamfi issued a public apology, acknowledging his mistake.
During an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV, Tamakloe discussed the situation. He said Gyamfi's apology was appropriate and should close the matter. “He thought it wise to apologize within 24 hours,” Tamakloe stated.
Tamakloe emphasized that while the apology does not excuse Gyamfi's behavior, it shows he understands public concern. “Having apologized provides no justification whatsoever,” he added. He believes this remorse should ease public anger and concerns.
