Shamima Muslim, the newly appointed Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, emphasized the need for reform in Ghana’s asset declaration system to ensure greater transparency and accountability in public office.
During an interview on TV3’s KeyPoints on January 25, she acknowledged the current challenges, including difficulties in verifying and validating declared assets.
Muslim also pointed out the timing issues surrounding asset declarations and suggested extending the requirement to include public officials’ families and associates.
She stressed the importance of ethical governance and called on appointees to avoid the corruption pitfalls of past administrations.
Reflecting on the hardships of ordinary Ghanaians, she urged leaders to uphold the values of social democracy and ensure fair distribution of resources for all citizens.
