Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has vowed to ensure President John Mahama’s administration fully implements the Affirmative Action Act, which mandates at least 30% female representation in government appointments.
Speaking at an event to mark International Women’s Day, he criticized the slow progress, noting that only 23% of appointments are currently held by women.
Bagbin warned that Parliament would reject any appointments falling below the legal threshold and urged immediate action to close the gender gap in leadership.
