“Stop the tantrums, the next ‘knock’ may not be a gentle tap''- Thaddeus Sory to Godfred Dame

Thaddeus Sory, a prominent lawyer, has responded to Godfred Yeboah Dame. He called the former Attorney-General's attacks unfounded and partisan. Sory aims to defend his legal integrity and independence.

In a statement titled “The Incongruous Cry Baby Again…”, Sory criticized Dame’s accusations. He described them as hypocritical during an appearance on Joy FM’s Top Story.

Dame questioned the neutrality of lawyers for petitioners in ongoing proceedings. He cited Sory’s alleged ties to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Sory, part of the legal team for petitioner Dan Ofori, dismissed these claims. He called them a desperate attempt to politicize the process.

Sory stated that Dame lacks shame and learns nothing from past mistakes. He emphasized his diverse legal history, representing figures from both political sides.

He mentioned working with NPP members like Ambrose Dery and Kwaku Kwarteng. His experience includes high-profile cases like Ghana@50 and Issa Mobila’s trial.

“None of my cases involve the NDC,” he said, referencing Rule 65 of Ghana’s legal ethics. This rule requires lawyers to represent clients regardless of politics.

Sory also criticized Dame's record on judicial impartiality during politically charged cases. He questioned certain Supreme Court rulings made while Dame was in office.

“Your current battle is clearly incongruous,” he wrote, noting concerns raised by the Joy FM host about Dame's Supreme Court appearance.

Sory accused Dame of eroding public confidence in the judiciary significantly. “No Attorney-General has done more damage than you,” he stated.

He concluded with a warning: “Stop the tantrums. The next ‘knock’ may not be gentle.”
