Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has warned Raymond Archer. Archer is the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). Afenyo-Markin urged him to change his leadership style. This comes amid tensions over the arrest of NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.
During a protest at EOCO headquarters, Afenyo-Markin spoke out. He cautioned Archer against being dismissive and bureaucratic. Engaging with political actors and stakeholders is important.
“I want to say something to my respected friend, Mr. Raymond Archer,” he said. “He will not be Executive Director of EOCO forever.”
Afenyo-Markin criticized EOCO for not engaging in dialogue. He claimed their evasiveness increases suspicions of partisanship. “You call them, they won’t even respond,” he lamented.
Despite his frustration, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the NPP’s commitment to peaceful discourse. “We will continue to peacefully dialogue with them,” he stated.
He also warned against confusing justice with persecution. He cautioned against politically motivated actions disguised as legal proceedings.
