The Supreme Court has upheld a motion by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to serve New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates in Techiman South, Ablekuma North, Okaikoi Central, and Tema Central through substituted means.
This follows multiple failed attempts by the NDC’s legal team to serve the NPP respondents with a certiorari application seeking to overturn a High Court order that allowed collation of results in the disputed constituencies.
On January 23, counsel for the NDC informed the court that efforts to serve Patrick Boamah, Nana Akua Afriyie, Charles Forson, and Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah had been unsuccessful, as they allegedly evaded service.
The court has now directed that service be effected via alternative methods, including posting the documents at the Supreme Court’s notice board, the NPP’s Odorkor office, a residence in Tema linked to Charles Forson, and through WhatsApp messages.
Additionally, the NPP MPs for Tema Central, Okaikoi Central, and Techiman South will be served through Parliament’s legal department. The notice is to remain posted for 14 days.
