Supreme Court orders substituted service in NDC-NPP Parliamentary dispute

Supreme Court of Ghana Supreme Court of Ghana

The Supreme Court has directed lawyers representing the NDC parliamentary candidates for Ablekuma North, Tema Central, Okaikoi Central, and Techiman South to serve their NPP counterparts through substituted service.

Justice H. Kwofie’s February 6 ruling permits service via court notice boards, the residences of the interested parties, and WhatsApp.

On February 20, bailiffs served Ablekuma North’s NPP candidate, Akua Afriyie, both in person and digitally.

The Ablekuma North parliamentary seat remains undeclared by the Electoral Commission, intensifying legal tensions.

The case, likely tied to electoral irregularities, could affect the seat’s final outcome if the NPP candidate fails to respond.

This legal battle prolongs uncertainty nearly three months after the elections.
