The NDC Constituency Executive Committee in Tema Central has called for calm and unity following youth-led protests over the appointment of a new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema Metro.

Demonstrators are demanding the nomination of an indigene, amid reports that Ebi Bright, the 2024 NDC parliamentary candidate, may be considered—despite earlier expectations favoring Patience Ankamah Addo.

In a statement issued on April 13, the executives, led by Chairman Benjamin Djakumah, urged party members and residents to respect due process, stressing that the President holds the constitutional authority to appoint an MCE through broad consultation.

The group expressed confidence in President Mahama’s leadership and called for stakeholders to prioritize peace and the collective development of Tema over personal preferences. They pledged full support for any nominee the President selects.
