Tension in Prestea Huni-Valley as NDC demands resignation of Prestea Sankofa Mines MD

National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Democratic Congress (NDC)

Members of the NDC in the Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency are demanding the resignation of Justice Acquah, Managing Director of Prestea Sankofa Mines Limited, following the change in government.

They are frustrated by his continued presence at the company despite calls for him to step aside.

MP Robert Wisdom Cudjoe and party executives intervened, advising Acquah to stay away to ensure a smooth transition. However, the MD has reportedly ignored the advice, fueling further agitation among NDC supporters.

Divisional Chief of Prestea Hemang, Nana Nteboah Pra IV, confirmed the unrest, stating that the MP's intervention could have restored calm if the MD had complied.

Prestea Sankofa Mines, a state-owned company with 90% shares held by GNPC and 10% by the government, employs nearly 400 people. The ongoing standoff raises concerns over stability at the mine.
