Residents of Ashaiman have expressed outrage over the exclusion of their MP, Ernest Norgbey, from President John Mahama’s ministerial appointments, leading to violent protests at the NDC Constituency Chairman’s office.
Demonstrators, who initially planned to block the Tema Motorway, resorted to vandalizing the chairman’s office, burning tyres, and destroying property after their grievances were not addressed.
They argue that Ashaiman, as a key NDC stronghold and major contributor to the party’s victory, deserves ministerial representation.
Presiding Member of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, Godwin Tsimesi, has urged calm, calling on the President to consider the constituency’s concerns.
