Renowned lawyer Thaddeus Sory has weighed in on the Attorney General’s decision to discontinue key prosecutions, arguing that the law grants the AG full discretion without the obligation to explain.
He referenced the legal principle of nolle prosequi, which allows cases to be withdrawn at any stage before judgment.
Sory questioned the merit of certain cases, including those involving Ato Forson, Collins Dauda, and Dr. Stephen Opuni, citing prosecutorial inconsistencies and potential political motivations.
He emphasized that rather than demanding explanations, Ghanaians should critically assess whether these cases should have been pursued in the first place.
His remarks add to the growing debate over the implications of these legal withdrawals for Ghana’s justice system.
