‘The President is the government, everyone else is just an advisor’ – Kufuor asserts

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor highlighted the executive power of Ghana's presidency, affirming that “the President is the government; everyone else is just an advisor.”

Speaking on Asempa FM, Kufuor explained that, in Ghana’s political structure, the President holds ultimate authority, with the Vice President and other officials acting as advisors.

His remarks follow Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent statement urging voters to elect him as President to allow him to enact policies he couldn't as Vice President due to his advisory role.

Kufuor emphasized that Bawumia’s current role limits his ability to drive major reforms, asserting that only the presidency grants the full power needed to tackle issues and implement significant changes for national development.
