Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, spoke to Ghanaians. He urged them to rise above political rivalries. He called for unity and purposeful leadership inspired by the June 4 uprising.
Mr. Kwetey addressed the 46th anniversary of this historic event. It took place at Agormanya Lasi Park in Lower Manya Krobo Municipality. He described the June 4 uprising as a key moment in Ghana's democratic history.
He stated that it offers important lessons for today's leaders. "June 4 should serve as a compass," he said. It teaches us to listen more, speak less, and act cautiously.
Mr. Kwetey stressed using history as a tool for leadership. He encouraged citizens to prioritize national unity over partisan interests. "This is not about blaming the NPP or letting the NDC off," he noted.
He emphasized holding ourselves to a higher standard. Ghana cannot afford mediocre politics anymore. The time for genuine transformation is now.
He urged Ghanaians to demand more from both major parties: NDC and NPP. Real progress will come when integrity and accountability are prioritized over division.
Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings joined him at the event. She highlighted the importance of June 4 principles today.
National Chairman Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia also spoke at the gathering. He called on party members and the public to reflect on past sacrifices.
