There’s no law that says Ken Ofori must be present physically before OSP—Hassan Tampuli

Hassan Tampuli, the MP for Gushegu, defended former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He supported Ofori-Atta's request to engage with the Office of the Special Prosecutor virtually.

Tampuli stated that no law requires Ofori-Atta to appear in person. He noted that physical appearances have been the norm for years. However, he emphasized that digital engagement is now possible.

He said, "He doesn’t have to appear before them in person." Ofori-Atta can communicate via phone or video link. Tampuli stressed there is no law mandating a physical appearance.

He added that using someone's absence as a reason for unreachability is outdated. The Special Prosecutor could travel to the U.S. under mutual legal assistance to meet him.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor insists on Ofori-Atta's physical presence. They declared him wanted after he missed a June 2 deadline to appear.
