These things stay in the database for life – Kumadoe on Ofori-Atta and OSP saga

Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has criticized the legal team of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He warned that their approach to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) could have serious consequences.

Kumadoe spoke on 3FM’s Midday News with Beatrice Adu on June 6. He condemned the lawyers' strategy as a mistake that could have been avoided.

He expected them to find common ground, especially given the tensions between the OSP and the lawyer. “They could have prevented this escalation,” he said, suggesting a more diplomatic approach would benefit everyone involved.

Kumadoe believes the implications extend beyond just courtroom issues. “Risk goes beyond the individual,” he stated. Profiling by law enforcement can affect a person's family, business partners, and acquaintances. These records can remain in databases for life.

He stressed that legal practitioners should prioritize professionalism over personal egos, especially when national reputation is at stake. In a pointed remark about those playing politics with this situation, he said, “They tried to say we passed the law exams before you, and it’s not working.”

Kumadoe urged all lawyers to tread carefully and focus on professionalism.
