Mary Addah, the Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), has a message for President John Mahama. She urges him to take action regarding a video involving Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In the video, he gifts money to Nana Agradaa, a controversial religious figure.
Addah spoke on the Asaase Breakfast Show. She expressed concern about ethical accountability in political leadership. She believes this incident should not be ignored. “What happened cannot be classified as decent behaviour expected of an official,” she said.
She pointed out that political leaders often call for integrity and ethical conduct. However, these calls must lead to real actions, especially from senior officials. “If we do not see action followed by these proclamations, we face empty rhetoric,” she warned.
Addah sees this as a chance for the President to send a strong message. Unethical behavior by senior party officials should not be tolerated.
Her comments come amid public scrutiny of the video. In it, Sammy Gyamfi hands money to Nana Agradaa, whose reputation is controversial. Some defend his gesture as harmless or personal. Critics argue it raises questions about accountability and leadership examples.
