Torkornoo’s injunction won’t derail removal process – Nana Yaa Jantuah

Nana Yaa Jantuah, a presidential staffer, confirmed the inquiry into Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo will continue. This is despite a new Supreme Court application to stop it.

Justice Torkornoo is trying to disqualify two justices from the investigative committee. Jantuah stated this legal move won't affect the committee's work or its outcome.

On Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, she called the application unnecessary and ineffective. She emphasized that the inquiry follows due process.

Jantuah said, “How can those two people influence the outcome? They cannot.” She noted there are two other credible members on the committee who follow the law.

Justice Torkornoo was suspended by President John Mahama under Article 146 of the Constitution. She filed her application through former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame.

Torkornoo wants Justices Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu disqualified due to alleged private meetings with a lawyer involved in her case.

Her application also seeks to restrain all committee members from proceeding with their work. This includes former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo and Major Flora Bazwaanura Dalugo.

Despite these challenges, Jantuah insists that the committee is legitimate and should proceed. Justice Torkornoo faces three separate petitions for her removal from office. The committee will investigate these allegations and determine her future as Chief Justice.
