Turn ORAL Committee into Commission of Inquiry – Lawyer advises Mahama

Private legal practitioner Kofi Bekai has urged President John Dramani Mahama to convert the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee into a Presidential Commission of Inquiry to ensure legal backing and avoid political controversy.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Bekai argued that critics question the committee’s legitimacy because it was established before Mahama officially assumed office.

He warned that committee members could face lawsuits if accused of defamation or unfair treatment, as the body currently lacks legal authority.

Bekai advised Mahama to separate the initiative from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto and formalize it under Ghanaian law to prevent legal and political challenges.
