Tussle emerges in NDC over local gov’t ministry

Reports suggest an internal contest within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the Ministry of Local Government, now renamed to include Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the party’s Director of Elections and IT, and Ahmed Ibrahim, Banda MP and Majority Chief Whip, are among the leading contenders for the ministerial position.

Another prominent name is Kofi Adams, Buem MP and former NDC National Organizer, who is being considered as a potential compromise candidate.

The expanded portfolio underscores the ministry’s strategic importance in promoting local governance, traditional leadership, and interfaith harmony under the new government.
