Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the Mahama administration's commitment to fighting corruption.

She supports calls for a legal framework to examine unexplained wealth of officials.

In her address, she highlighted the need for legislation that holds officeholders accountable. The government plans to present the long-awaited Conduct of Public Officers Bill to Parliament.

The revised bill will incorporate diverse perspectives. This ensures it promotes integrity in public service effectively.

“The revised bill will include views from CSOs, anti-corruption institutions, and the media,” she stated. “We want it to stand the test of time.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also stressed that fighting corruption requires adequate funding for key institutions. She called for a financial model that protects anti-graft agencies from political interference.

“We must ensure sustainable financing for these institutions,” she emphasized. “This will reduce influence and enhance their independence.”
