Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has lauded the inauguration of Namibia’s first female president, H.E. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, describing it as a historic moment that underscores the strength and determination of African women.
She expressed her admiration for the new leader, emphasizing that her ascension to the highest office is a source of inspiration for women across the continent.
In a message shared on her official Facebook page on March 22, 2025, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said she was honored to witness such a milestone.
She highlighted President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s leadership as a testament to courage and perseverance, urging young men and women in Africa to see it as proof that no dream is beyond reach with commitment and dedication.
As part of Ghana’s delegation, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang attended the swearing-in ceremony in Windhoek, which coincided with Namibia’s 35th Independence Day celebration on March 21, 2025.
The event drew African heads of state, international dignitaries, and representatives of regional bodies, reflecting its significance on the global stage.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah, a veteran politician and member of the ruling SWAPO party, takes office at the age of 72 after decades of public service.
In her inaugural address, she outlined her administration’s focus on governance, economic growth, youth employment, regional cooperation, and climate change, signaling a new chapter in Namibia’s leadership.
