Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He urged party members to move past previous challenges. The focus should be on restoring the NPP’s fortunes for the 2028 elections.
On May 8, he spoke to supporters in the Volta Region during the NPP’s ‘Thank You Tour’. He emphasized unity, determination, and grassroots engagement as essential for recovery.
“Let us all rise and rebuild together,” Bawumia said. “Victory in 2028 is not a dream but a mission.” He believes they have the talent and ideas needed to succeed.
He acknowledged the party's recent defeat but insisted it should not hinder progress. “What matters is how we rise from this setback,” he stated. Strengthening party structures at every level is crucial.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted that a stronger grassroots presence will help reconnect with voters. “Everyone has a role in restoring confidence among Ghanaians,” he added.
He also pointed out the potential of the Volta Region. The party must listen closely to local communities and fulfill its commitments.
“This region is ripe for transformation,” he noted. Engaging with local concerns will help earn community trust.
His message was one of resilience and action, aiming to reposition the NPP as a trusted political force. These remarks are part of efforts to consolidate support after the 2024 elections.
