Volta Region ammunition bust: Suspect remanded by Denu Court

Salisu Jalilu, the co-driver in an ammunition interception case, has been remanded. He appeared before the Denu Circuit Court on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

His arrest followed a police inspection at the Tadzewu-Mitsrikasa barrier on April 18. Police found 33,000 rounds of cartridges hidden under passenger luggage. The bus was traveling from Accra to Benin.

Jalilu faces charges of illicit trafficking in ammunition. His plea was not taken during the court appearance.

Police prosecutors requested his remand to assist with ongoing investigations. The presiding judge, His Honour Joseph Ofosu-Behome, granted this request.

Jalilu will remain in police custody until his next court date on May 7, 2025.
