Chairman Butey, the First National Vice Chairman of the NPP, has strong views. He believes that any national executive running for leadership is acting out of self-interest. He argues they do not represent the party's best interests.
Butey claims all national executives have failed in their roles. He says they do not deserve another term in office. “We need to remove all national executives, including myself,” he stated.
He pointed out that the party lost seats during their tenure. The NPP started with 137 seats but ended up with only 88. “We should be ashamed,” he said, questioning why they would run again after this loss.
Butey insists fresh leadership is necessary for the party's future. He believes the party belongs to everyone and should come before personal interests. Executives seeking re-election are prioritizing their own pockets over the party’s progress.
He criticized those who blame President Akufo-Addo for their losses. “When he made mistakes, what did you say?” he asked. He urged executives to take responsibility for the NPP's defeat in elections.
Butey called on NPP members to vote against any executive seeking re-election. He emphasized that true leaders should hold each other accountable and prioritize the party’s success over personal ambitions.
