W/R: Mpohor MP leads arrest of illegal miner at Adum Banso

An illegal miner was arrested at Adum Banso. He polluted the Bibri River. The arrest followed a tip from MP Hon. Godfred Henry Kofi Bentil. He is fighting against "galamsey" in the constituency.

The arrest occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Local law enforcement worked quickly with the MP’s office. Otooyo was caught operating secretly along the river. This crackdown followed community complaints and environmental concerns.

Residents of Adum Banso praised the MP’s actions. They see it as a turning point in their battle against illegal mining. This issue has threatened their water sources and livelihoods for years.

Ama Mensah, a local farmer, expressed gratitude: “We’ve been suffering in silence. Our children drink from this river. We are grateful the MP didn’t just talk — he acted.”

Hon. Bentil has voiced concern over environmental degradation caused by "galamsey." He reaffirmed his commitment to rooting out illegal miners: “We cannot continue to let greed destroy our rivers and the future of our people.”

The MP’s office plans more surveillance and enforcement measures. They aim to keep Adum Banso and other areas free from illegal mining activities.
