Walewale NPP Primary: Court orders opening of ballot box in disputed election

The High Court in Tamale has ordered the Electoral Commission to open the ballot box and provide copies of the voter register from the January 27, 2024 Walewale NPP parliamentary primary.

This ruling, issued on August 7, 2024, follows a motion by Hajia Lariba Abudu, who is challenging the election results.

The court dismissed an attempt by Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama to block this investigation.

Preliminary findings by Abudu’s legal team include evidence of double voting and other irregularities.

The case is adjourned to August 14, 2024, for further proceedings.
