President-elect John Dramani Mahama has criticized the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) initiative, labeling it an unsustainable "artificial job creation" program.
Speaking in an interview on December 14, 2024, Mahama rejected the program’s temporary solutions to youth unemployment, pointing out that it failed to provide long-term job opportunities.
He emphasized his administration’s focus on creating genuine employment pathways through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), rather than relying on short-term measures like NABCO.
Mahama stressed the importance of growing the private sector to absorb youth into sustainable jobs and highlighted the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to expand opportunities for local businesses and job creation.
