“We can’t wait” – Amin Adam justifies early opposition to NDC govt

Former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has defended the Minority New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision to begin opposing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government immediately, arguing that waiting would be detrimental.

Speaking on Channel One TV on March 17, 2025, he dismissed calls for the NPP to allow the new administration time to settle, citing pressing national concerns.

Dr. Amin Adam highlighted job losses, particularly the dismissal of legally employed individuals, and criticized the government’s weak approach to illegal mining (galamsey), despite President Mahama’s promises to tackle the issue.

He insisted that delays in holding the government accountable could lead to further economic and environmental harm, reinforcing the need for early opposition.
