We’ll respond strongly to political intimidation — Salam Mustapha warns after Wontumi’s arrest

Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), condemned the arrest of Bernard Antwi Boasiako. He is also known as Chairman Wontumi and is the Ashanti Regional Chairman. Mustapha called the arrest politically motivated and lacking legal merit.

He questioned the reasons behind the arrest by officials from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). Mustapha suggested that it aimed to show political power rather than enforce justice. “Is that legal? They want to show you power,” he said.

Mustapha emphasized that if a crime like forgery or embezzlement occurred, they would acknowledge it. “If a person has committed a crime, then you have a point,” he stated. He mentioned that the party examines situations before reacting.

He declared that the NPP will not tolerate what he termed political witch-hunting. “We will respond harder whenever this happens,” he warned. This applies to all members of the NPP, regardless of age or gender.

However, Mustapha reminded everyone that their response should be principled. “Two wrongs do not make right,” he cautioned.
