The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted man again. This time, the language is firmer, and international arrest is possible.
On June 3, 2025, the OSP issued a strong statement. They officially re-declared Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive after he missed a deadline to report on June 2.
The statement emphasized that the OSP has always requested his attendance. They made it clear they would not waive this requirement. If they were willing to take his statement without him, they would have done so in February.
The OSP stated that negotiations from Ofori-Atta about the investigation will not be accepted. They insist he must appear in person for questioning.
A suspect cannot dictate how an investigation proceeds, according to the OSP. They will not tolerate such behavior in this case.
Along with reactivating his fugitive status, the OSP has started processes for an Interpol red notice. This means they are engaging international law enforcement to help track him down.
This situation follows months of back-and-forth between the former minister and the OSP. Although he promised to return to Ghana in May due to medical reasons, he did not meet the deadline.
