Where are the ECG containers? – NPP Communicator Calls Out Energy Minister

New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Eric Debie is increasing pressure on Energy Minister John Jinapor. He is calling for Jinapor's arrest over missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

Debie spoke on Wontumi TV. He expressed frustration about the Minister's lack of accountability. Jinapor had promised to retrieve the containers within a month.

“It’s been over a month, and there’s still no sign of the containers,” Debie said. He noted conflicting reports from National Security, Ports and Harbours, and the Minister himself. “Which one should we believe?” he questioned.

Debie also criticized the recent 14% tariff hike. Jinapor attributed this increase to conditions under Ghana’s current IMF program. Debie found this reasoning weak, especially since the Nana Addo-led administration renegotiated parts of a previous IMF deal.

“Why can’t the NDC do the same to ease the burden on Ghanaians?” he asked.

He highlighted worsening power supply issues as evidence of government failure in energy management. Debie mentioned ongoing outages in Sunyani, where some areas have lacked power for two days.

“This is more than just a technical challenge; it’s clear that dumsor is back,” he told host Agyenkwa Nana.
