Where s Ofori-Atta? – Ayariga questions Afenyo-Markin

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has questioned Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

He asked about the absence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Ofori-Atta has not appeared at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for questioning. This is related to alleged corruption offences.

Afenyo-Markin previously assured Parliament that Ofori-Atta would return by May 2025. He claimed this was after a medical assessment abroad. However, as of June 3, 2025, Ofori-Atta has not returned.

Ayariga accused Afenyo-Markin of breaking his promise to Parliament. He spoke during a session on June 3 and criticized the Minority caucus's inconsistent behavior. He referenced their lack of support at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

This occurred during the recent detention of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.

Ayariga stated, “He promised this House he would bring Ken Ofori-Atta in May; we are in June, where is Ken Ofori-Atta?”

He added that Afenyo-Markin should not be heard in Parliament if he cannot fulfill promises.
