Tensions are rising within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as internal divisions threaten the party’s post-2024 election review.
A planned character assassination of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s vice-presidential candidate, has surfaced,theheraldghana.com reports.
Two Members of Parliament (MPs), one from Ashanti Region and the other from the Eastern Region, are reportedly orchestrating a smear campaign against Dr. Prempeh, enlisting youth in Kumasi to spread false information about him.
The campaign, set to begin on January 6, 2025, is led by a failed Parliamentary candidate from Adentan, and has sparked concerns within the NPP about its potential impact on the party's future strategy and unity ahead of the 2028 elections.
